An artist license is only valid in a licensed facility. Applicants must submit proof of at least two (2) complete years of licensure experience as an artist from another state OR proof of completion of an approved apprenticeship. If the licensure experience requirements cannot be met, the applicant will need to enroll in an Apprentice Program. Much like any other business, you will need a license to open a tattoo parlor. Your license will come from the governing authorities for your business location. Take a look at these steps for obtaining a business license for your tattoo business. Educate yourself on your local and state government requirements for starting a business.
